Heat & Sun Considerations
Please note: The darker the color, the hotter the deck will feel in direct sunlight. Trex Select® with SunComfortable™ technology can help reduce surface temperature, but for the strongest heat mitigation we recommend comparing it against TimberTech Vintage® Advanced PVC.
*Even cooler-running decking can get hot on clear summer days. Avoid extended contact between exposed skin and the deck surface, especially with young children.
Built for Docks & Marinas
Trex Select® decking isn't just for backyard decks — it thrives in harsh waterfront environments too.
Submersible
Can be fully submerged without warping, swelling, or structural compromise.
Splinter-Free
Walk barefoot with confidence — no splinters, no rough edges, ever.
Handles Harsh Conditions
Salt spray, UV exposure, and constant moisture — composite shrugs it off.
Stays Cooler
Won't absorb and radiate heat like pressure-treated lumber or traditional decking.
Low Maintenance
No sanding, staining, or sealing — just rinse and enjoy.
Fire-Resistant Decking
Utah's Wildland-Urban Interface areas demand materials that meet strict fire codes. Trex Select® delivers.
Ignition Resistant
Tested and rated to resist ignition from ember exposure and radiant heat.
WUI Compliant
Meets Wildland-Urban Interface building codes — approved for use in high-fire-risk areas across Utah.
Meets Strict Standards
Complies with California WUI standards (Chapter 7A) and ICC IWUIC requirements for exterior construction.
Peace of Mind
Build confidently in foothill communities, mountain retreats, and anywhere wildfire risk is a concern.

Trex Select® FAQ
What makes Trex Select a good value?
Select offers the same shell technology and composite durability as higher-tier Trex lines at a lower price point. With a 35-year warranty and SunComfortable™ in the new colors, it's the perfect balance of performance and affordability.
Is Trex Select thinner than other Trex boards?
Yes — Select boards are .82" thick compared to .94" for Transcend and Signature. They should not be combined with other Trex lines on the same deck to avoid tripping hazards.
Which Select colors have SunComfortable™?
The three newest Select colors feature SunComfortable™ heat-mitigating technology. Check with us for the latest color availability.
Can I pair Select decking with Trex railing?
Absolutely! Trex Select decking pairs beautifully with any Trex railing line. Explore our railing options.
